Pickleball in Ocoee: The New Vasant Sports Indoor Tournament Facility Coming to the City
A 25-court, tournament-grade indoor complex is on the way to Jacob Nathan Boulevard — and it's positioning Ocoee as a pickleball destination, not just a participant.
Prime Pickleball Ocoee is an indoor tournament-grade pickleball complex approved by the Ocoee City Commission on September 16, 2025. The 6.08-acre facility is being developed by Vasant Sports LLC at 1000, 1050, and 1100 Jacob Nathan Boulevard in Ocoee, FL. The approved site plan features 25 indoor courts, one outdoor championship court, a pro shop, a restaurant, and a two-story banquet hall across three buildings. Vasant Sports has publicly targeted hosting a major tournament roughly every other month, with the goal of attracting the APP Tour and PPA Tour. Construction was estimated at 15 to 18 months from approval, which points to an opening window in late 2026 or early 2027.
Pickleball has quietly become one of the biggest lifestyle stories in Orlando real estate, and most people still think of it as a retirement-community sideshow. It's not. And Ocoee is about to be a big part of why that narrative breaks.
The Ocoee City Commission unanimously approved plans for a 25-court indoor pickleball complex on Jacob Nathan Boulevard — branded Prime Pickleball Ocoee and developed by Vasant Sports LLC. When it opens, it will be one of the largest dedicated indoor pickleball venues in the state. For residents of Ocoee, Winter Garden, Gotha, and Windermere, it's a genuinely new kind of amenity.
What Got Approved (And What Didn't)
This isn't the first version of the project. Vasant Sports originally pitched a much bigger 44-court complex in 2024, including 24 covered outdoor courts. The Development Review Committee flagged parking and other issues, and that version was denied. The plan that passed on September 16, 2025 is smaller, smarter, and mostly indoor:
- 25 indoor tournament-style courts across two of the three buildings
- 1 outdoor championship court for marquee matches and show events
- Three main buildings on a 6.08-acre site — one two-story with indoor courts, restaurant, and pro shop; a second with additional indoor courts; and a two-story banquet hall
- Two access points for emergency response, addressing concerns from the original plan
- Location: 1000, 1050, and 1100 Jacob Nathan Boulevard — just north of West Colonial Drive (SR 50), a short drive from West Oaks Mall
Cutting from 44 to 26 courts is the key move. Parking scales, traffic gets manageable, and the indoor-heavy design dampens the noise issue that killed the original plan.
Why Indoor Courts Actually Matter in Florida
Central Florida already has a lot of pickleball. So why does another indoor complex matter? Two reasons. Weather — from June through September, an afternoon outdoor match is either canceled by a thunderstorm or played in 94-degree heat with 80% humidity. The Tiger Park Noise Problem (And Why This Helps)
An angle most coverage skipped: Ocoee's existing public courts at Tiger Park have generated years of noise complaints from nearby residents. District 1 Commissioner Scott Kennedy specifically noted during the approval meeting that he hopes the Vasant Sports complex reduces demand at Tiger Park. That's a real civic win — an indoor, sound-dampened facility pulls players off neighborhood parks never designed for the volume pickleball draws.
What It Means for Neighborhoods Near the Site
Jacob Nathan Boulevard sits in a commercial district just off West Colonial Drive, so nearby neighborhoods are buffered by existing retail rather than backing up to the courts. Communities best positioned for the new amenity include Wesmere, Admiral Pointe, Brynmar, and the Maguire and Clarke Road corridors. Residents of Winter Garden and Horizon West are within 10-15 minutes via SR 429.
The upside: a year-round indoor amenity at a scale that doesn't exist anywhere else in West Orange County, new food and beverage on site, a banquet hall adding event capacity the city has historically outsourced, and potential resale lift for nearby homes once open.
The honest downsides: tournament weekends will noticeably increase traffic on Jacob Nathan Boulevard and West Colonial Drive, 15-18 months of construction disruption from the 2025 approval, and the reality that preliminary site plan approval is a milestone — not a guarantee.
A Second Location to Know About
Vasant Sports is also opening a smaller first-location facility, Prime Pickleball Orlando, at 115 N Goldenrod Road — six air-conditioned courts with cushioned surfaces, used as a proving ground for the playing-surface technology the company plans to scale at the Ocoee complex. A real advantage of the Jacob Nathan Boulevard site is access — Ocoee sits at the convergence of SR 429, SR 408, and Florida's Turnpike. Rough drive times once open:

- Horizon West / Windermere: 15-20 minutes via SR 429
